Impeller cone seal
Just under my VX and just checking pump tunnel to see how my impeller clearance is looking and I notice that my cone seal is about an inch away from the front of the impeller. First thought is, how did this happen? Second thought is how bad the damage from the salt water forcing it's way into the shaft spline, and into the threads in the back of the impeller??
It's a Solas 18/24 impeller with the anodized nose seal. Impeller has been in there for two years now. Just wondering how long this has been like this and how bad is it when I try to twist off this impeller. Condition of impeller housing and impeller look like factory new.
Should I worry or is this not a big deal..

Pull it all out now and inspect. If not it'll just be harder to work with later.
Or leave it for the next owner.

Just wondering if anyone else out there with a Solas prop has had the cone walk from the impeller.

Take it off, and leave it off. If you remove the impeller, coat the threads with anti-seize.
