    Driveshaft Length

I just got a used driveshaft from a member to use on my RAD4 on my 08' RXP. My OEM driveshaft is a little longer, about 1/8", than the one I received. I thought they are all supposed to be the same length?

Plus my OEM one has another ring groove in it for like the steel ring that holds the hat in place.

OK, guys. The one I got from a buddy is 24 3/4" long. My '08 OEM one is 24 7/8" long. Here are the pictures showing the differences. My '08 OEM shaft is on the bottom in all pictures. Why does mine have another groove that I circled and the top shaft doesnt. Mine even has longer splines.

I did some research on parts fisch for different years. My '08 is 271001601. I looked up a '06 and the shaft says 271001601 (replaces 271001432). Sounds like they made a change and now all models are supposed to use the newer shaft if they need a replacement. Like it was superceded.

The x models have the 2 grooves in the shaft on the diagram. Sounds like they made a change for some reason but it should still work.

Seadoo replaced the old shaft with the one you have circled at the bottom. The new shaft has two grooves in it so that it can be used for both X model and non X model RXP's
