Almost sunk after Riva Stage 2 install

My buddy ski had this kit installed last weekend after about an hour of running he started taking on a lot of water as soon as he reached the ramp ski died, we hauled it out and water started to come from intake grate, pulled seat water was up to top of motor, took it back to the shop and found that the S/S ring in front of the carbon ring on the drive shaft had shifted forward C-Clip is nowhere to be found this is obviously where the water came in from, ski has 45 hrs. on it drive shaft has never been pulled, I'm in saltwater I removed one of these a couple of weeks ago and broke the seadoo tool just trying to get it off it is almost impossible to remove once the drive shaft starts to rust, we are puzzled on how this happened, any ideas or suggestions???

Your floating ring moved on its own? I wrestled with that thing for hours and couldn't move it at all. I cannot imagine how that thing could move. Nothing in the Riva Stage II would affect that ring. I'm puzzled. But if you figure out what happened, let me know because I am about to put mine back in.

It sounds like the clip just gave way. If that happens lookout for the flood!!!

It had nothing to do with the Riva Kit.
I installed the kits myself to the two RXP's, I spoke with Glenn from PPG and he recommended the "Drive shaft seal and carrier Assy." to replace this one with, it's not on his website but he has it in stock and puts it on all skis after any upgrade.
Franco I agree with you I took two of these off in the past and broke my tool had to beat it off, if someone else had told me this I would have had a hard time believing it.
I suggest that bilge pump and drive shaft seal installation.
