    Angry Trim problem on my XP 800.Please help before i smash it

    I put in a working trim motor in my doo.i put key in 1st then checked motor when i hit trim button i can hear motor click.so i start it up and trim wont move at all.motors fine its just pissin me off.please help.thanks fellow doo riders and wrenchers

    The 7.5 amp fuse in the rear black box is for the VTS motor only.

    To confirm the motor or VTS housing is bad, simply confirm the fuse is good, then remover the front cover that says "VTS". Get a volt meter, set it to 12 volts, and unplug the two wires going to the motor. Connect them to your meter leads, push the start/stop button to energize the gauges, (yes, the lantard doesn't need to be connected and the engine does not have to be running), and push the up and down button to see if you get regular then inverted volatge on your meter. If no voltage, the VTS housing is bad. If you get voltage, the motor is bad.

    Just because you hear a "click" doesn't mean the contacts you hear clicking are actually making a connection.

    As long as the VTS motor is kept dry, it is pretty reliable. The friggin control module is what goes out on most of them. This is probably what you've got. I see these on Ebay a lot. Do a search and then save it. One will turn up soon. Go ahead and smash it, but take the motor out first.
