94 slt 750 almost total rebuild

New to the pwc scene I got a 94 slt 750 with a hole in the mag piston engine looked trashed to me so I purchased a rebuilt sbt engine and the 3 feed fuel pump along with new fuel lines and carb rebuild kits my question is I think I have this thing ready to go back in the hull but the needle and seats that were in it were 2.0 and the ones that I got are 2.5 I did get the pop off set at 17 is this gonna be ok? also the timing the stator is set at the marks is this all there is to it. any help would be apprecated..

You need a pop-off tester to set your pop-off presure and make sure they are all equal.
http://www.parkeryamaha.com/mikunipo...er0-60psi.aspx is a good example, but I made my own with air compressor gauges.

Im not sure about the stator marks, you better look in the shop manual, http://pwcmanuals.shorturl.com/

heres a couple of slt posts that might help:

    Welcome to the Hulk.

You should be OK with the 2.5
Yes the stator timing is that simple.
Yes you can remove the thermostat I like to leave the pop-off valve installed.

The index mark on the stator needs to line up with the case seam.
I'm not sure how the 2.5s will effect your ski. They may be ok, but I think you may find a little hesitation from idle to just off idle. You may be able to tune around that with a higher pop off and/or needle adjustments.
Did you re-install the return line restrictor in your new fuel lines?

Ok guys back on the 94 slt750 project again took a few months break (to many projects) anyway rebuilt the carbs with after market kits and did not like the way the pop-off pressures looked and was gonna get original mikuni kits and do over. But during my break I had someone give me a 96 sl780 with a hole in mag piston. Question is The carbs look in better shape than the ones I already have could and would I gain any thing by using the carbs off the 780 and putting them on the 750 and if so am I correct that all that would need to be done would be to install new jets and rebuild. And is there any thing else I could use off the 780 that would improve the 750. To all Thanks
