Lost my Intake Grate today, it Hurt!

Went out today with a few friends like every weekend. We were racing top speed in mild chop, I was out front about 2 ski's. With out any warning the back of my gpr jumped up and the ski turned right really hard and I didnt. lol Really its not funny at all. Today sucked bad. That shit hurts. Got back to the ski and got it to the trailer. The 1200 grate I had was gone. The 2 rear bolts were broke off in the shoe and the front bolts pulled out of the hull. Ski was full of water cause of the 2 holes in the hull. Anyways my lower back hurts along with my neck. Felt sick for a few hours after.

So now i have to fix it. What can I do to prevent this from happening again??? Going to put a 800 grate on this time.

if you want to prevent this from happening again put another 1200 grate on or a SS 800 and upgrade the brackets and bolts. i think WFO sells them. i know the feeling. i've been thrown off at 68 and 67 on a stock gp1300r

ouch, i know how it feels all too well.

like the guys are saying, you need to upgrade your intake grate mounting brackets with some heavy duty ones and stay with a 1200 grate, the 800 grates also break so be careful running them.

Ill post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys! WFO looks like they offer a bad ass mount for the ski. If I had the time I would be buying what they have. Im just in a time crunch. Yes this is on a 08 GPR.

time crunch? you're gonna be in a bigger time crunch if you get seriously hurt. honestly...it'll probably take more time to repair everything back to stock then just upgrade the hardware. the call is up to you. i knew rich would chime in

What!? For Real!? These things pull outta the hull?

    What causes this?

as real as a heart attack...the stock brackets are not that strong at all. with an oem intake grate it might hold up ok but with any aftermarket grate it's only a matter of time. aftermarket grates increase the amount of water flow which leads to more force on the bolts.
