Unhappy The age old question, 10hr service...

Dealer or do it yourself? After reading a bunch of posts, I don't have a great deal of confidence in any dealer mechanics... Will BRP hassle me later with my BEST warranty if I do the 10hr my self? I'm sure this is an old question, sorry...

I also took mine to the dealer as well....But the dealership i bought from

seems to be very competent so far.....however..probably won't be going back
    unless absolutely necessary

Suck it up and let the dealer do the service... this one is very important if you ever need to make a warranty claim. If you do it yourself... just keep all receipts and document everything.

I most likly will be doing the 10hr service my self as im buying it in the states. If i take it to a dealer in canada as soon as its hooked up to the computer seadoo will know and cancel my warranty and theres no way im driving to the states for a 10hrs service. Just hope there isnt a service light that comes on at the 10hr mark If thats the case then i might have no choice.

There is a maintenance light that comes on at 10 hrs. I doesn't hurt anything though... it will flash a few times when you put the key on, then go away. The dealer will reset this at the 10 hr. service.

That suck's...... So trip to the states i guess for the 10hr, hope they will do the 10hr while i wait. warranty work fine but having to go get an oil change across the border sucks. Oh well i saved about $5000 buying in the states so *%$# you sea-doo and your over priced pwc here in canada.

Do it yourself. That way you know it was done right. I don't trust anybody with anything of mine. I get burned everytime I let someone touch my stuff. Warranty or not.

The only thing required at 10 hrs. is an oil/filter change. I did this myself (about $40 in oil + filter), took a photo of the hour meter with the receipt next to it, put it into the file. I'm out of warranty now, but if I had a problem, I'm confident that my "proof" of an oil change would have been sufficient.

When my dealer did the 10 hour service, his tech was rushing like a madman and freak cut and bled all over my ski and my nice white rotax engine cover!!! Then he wiped it up with an oily rag!

I made him go washup and put a bandage on then clean up the mess...
