    SL650 water separators

Just curious I've got two '92 SL650's, what's strange is one has a fuel filter, and both have what I am assuming is the water separator...it looks like a housing for a fuel filter, but it is empty on both skis, well not technically empty, but just full of fuel. Is there supposed to be something in this housing, and am I correct in assuming this is the water separator?

Yes it's a water/fuel seporator, and the are empty except normally a red ring that will float on the water to indicate level of water.

The old seperators were just a deep cup, nothing in them.

Water is heavier than gas, so it would sink to the bottom, and the fuel would go to the carbs. UNLESS you had a TON of water in there.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is no separator on the '92 650's.... I don't have one, Partsland doesn't show one? 'Course, Partsland also shows a friggin' gas tank "bulb" to prime with! WTF?

Maybe somebody retrofitted a later separator to your '92?

You're probably right, must have been retrofitted. Both my 92's have them but I'm the 4th owner. Thanks for the info guys
