Snapped belt 07 250x south shore long island
Was riding out to the great south bay today and snapped my super charger belt. I was riding at wot when it happened.
I jumped off the ski and removed some sea grass ..( would this of cause the belt to snap.? ) the ski has a 120+ hours on it...
Then i idled back the couple of miles to the marina.
Any way i guess what i am getting at is ..
Can i just replace the belt and see how it runs. Should i check out the super charger ? ( it should rotate freely, correct? )
Any tips would be greatly appreciated ..
I'll do a search as well.
Thanks in advance.

Spin the supercharger and Idler pulley. Both should spin. Check side to side movement also. My belt broke same way at 106 hours. Engine has to be slid forward for belt replacement. Use tensioner tool to check new belt once installed. If over tight will break again. You may want to put a spare belt on there also.

the engine is going to have to be slid forward. damn... okay. I'm going to need pick up the mechanic book as well , when I pick up the belt. or belts

if anybody else breaks a belt while a way from port
use your tool kit under your rear seat get the screwdriver and remove the rubber hose either entering the intercooler, or on the exit of the cooler. At least that way it will run like a normal aspirated ski, ( not perfect but shit loads faster and safer than idleing threw the big waves..

I'm sorry to hear that Mug... I was out on the S shore last weekend we putin at smiths point and went east from there... I love the SS because of the number of people you see both boats and ski's the North shore does not seem to have the amount of traffic that the south does.
The one thig i DO HATE about the SS is all that silly grass that gets everywhere, intake grate, trailer and everything...during my last ride i guess some that muk got in my grate when ever i'd try to go WOT she would just Bog... scared me at first but then i knew what it was...
Maybe i should have mine replaced as a precautionary measure.. (78 hrs)
Best of luck with your belt.....

It seems that most of the the SC belts let go after the hours get up there... what do you guys think about maybe replacing the belt BEFORE it snaps?...l(like what you do to your truck, car etc) have any of you guys done this as a precautionary measure say at maybe 70, 80, hours? i'll bet most probabally dont keep the ski much past 100 hrs anyhow..
Just a thought..
