    RXP-X Stage I - Solas 15/22R - Need prop tweak advice

So far on this ski I have:

    4" air intake
    Worx grate
    Solas 15/22R (untouched)
    Stock 87mm nozzle
Reverse mod / Ride plate holes filled

    I'm turning 8020 RPM in 100 degree air / 90 degree water / 40% humidity / 530 ft elevation for a top speed of around 72 MPH.

I'd like my RPMs to be in the 8160 range, but I know if I tweak my prop for that now, I will be all over the limiter in a month or so when the temps start dropping off. I do also have an 83mm RXP nozzle sitting here as well though. My goal is to maintain the holeshot and gain a little top end if possibe.

First of all, if I was going to send this prop off, who would you recommend sending it to and for what mod? Second, what sort of gains does that mod yield? And finally, is it worth tweaking the prop at all knowing that it might be in the mid 8100 range as soon as the temps start dropping here?

Oh and where do you stand on the cone/no cone debate for this setup? Thanks in advance.

On the x skis you want your rpms to be at 8000. you produce your most hp at 8000. so i would leave leave everything alone. If you do repitch send to speedfreeks

the 83mm will drop your rpm hard. i dont think its worth tweaking prop cause like you said with the colder air you will get your rpm back later on. i removed my nose cone cause it kept unscrewing and ending up behind the carbon seal, that was a pain. i wouldnt remove unless its giving you problems, there are no advantages with it off.

A lot of people seem to think this for some reason. My ski rips when it runs between 8140 8160. As long as you are under 8200 the limiter does not kick in.

Yes you gain GPS and acceleration proping for 8100-8160. You don't loose as much rpm as you would think going from a 87 to 83mm nozzle. But you gain 1- 1.5mph.

And send your prop to either Duke or Erik (speedfreeks). Erik will set the prop back and pitch for 8160. You can use 87mm during the summer when turning those RPM and put the 83mm in to get off the limiter in the cooler months.

    Jarrett,

Your rpms are way down in the Texas heat right now.
If you ride at all when it cools down I would leave it alone. You will gain rpm as season changes.
Do you see any cavitation with that prop? IF so Eriks pitch will reduce that issue and prop will be identical across all blades which good chance its not right now. Those are the gains IMO. There well worth it but your prop is perfect for right now and you got some room to gain with cooler weather.

i got almost the same set up on my X (first R&D). When i took the stock nozzle off and put the 83 on, i lost about 40RPM. With the humid air i run about 8040-8060. Im waiting to see what happens as it cools off before i touch the 15/22r i would love to be up in the 8100-8180 range. Im running a consistent 73.
