    Super 4-TEC Oil Usage

    My friends and I were running a borrowed 05 RXP last weekend. We burned about a quart of oil in the 5-6 hard hours we put on the ski (a couple of tank fulls). Is that normal usage. We had a lot of hard accels and the engine is past it's 10hr break in period. Just wondering if this is normal

    Welcome to the forum.

    BTW, that sounds like a lot of oil to burn. I've put just over 100 hrs on my RXTs in three years and have never burned that much in a season.

    Let's see what other's think...

    Couple things cause people sometimes think you should fill it to the top mark. Oil level should be half way between the two marks and should be check when the ski is warm. If you checked it cold first then when its warm the level will change. Also if your burning that much oil you would notice it with the exhaust smoke. If you really did burn that much oil get that thing back to the dealer asap cause it has a problem... I do WOT pretty much most of the time with my 4tec sportster and have never needed to top up the oil.

    Forgot to mention - it has a Sea-Doo reman engine in it (previous OE engine was toasted). Anyone have experience with their reman engines?

    But then it wouldnt be a Seadoo Reman. It could be the bearing seal on the output shaft. Is there oil in the hull in the rear. IF so it could be leaking at the shaft or the Supercharger seal. I doubt it burned that much with out a smell and smoke
