    Dual Fuel Pumps???

I was wondering if anyone has tried to run a second fuel pump inline with the one on the carb.? Kind of a redundant fuel system, I just wonder if it would build more pressure (not what I am after) or just feed the carb. pump if it ever went out. Any thoughts + or - would be appreciated.

Novi, Mikuni, made a remote fuel pump for our our skis. It mounted on the side of the hull, and went to each carb. Most racers used one of these.

Mikuni actually made theirs mount on the engine, and vibration would prevent it from pumping at a certian rpm range. Or, the mica check valves would fail prematurely. Novi custom made an aluminum bracket to mount theirs to the hull, eliminating this problem.

You would think one high out put mikuni 18gph pump would be plenty for your needs.

I have a new Mikuni high output pump that i ordered and just wanted to put it inline with the pump already on the carbs. That way if either one went out (mica valve failure) the other would keep me from running lean. It's just a thought on keeping from burning another piston due to fuel pump failure/low pressure. So, do you think it would NOT flood the carbs.?

I don't think that is a good idea. It probably won't work anyway. Use the Mikuni remote pump, but don't mount it on your engine, and block off the stocker.

On our twin pipe ski's we used dual mikuni high flows in a redundant setup.. That way, if one failed (never did) the ski would still have an ample amount of fuel and not destroy the motor.

Stock pumps work just fine on stock, and even some limited applications..

    I wouldn't run a stock pump over 7000 rpms.

This is exactly my thought of the added pump. My ski is stock except for an overbore, so the insurance is what I am after. I have seen too many burnt pistons working on jetski's for my boss with almost all stemming from low fuel pressure. (broken/bent mica valves or the rubber plug holding them on rotting and/or breaking off)
96XPSS, you know I value your opinion, but I really want to try this to see if it helps. I will be monitoring the pressure via a dash mounted pressure gauge. If I mount the pump on the ski body, the extra pulse line length won't effect the pump efficiency will it?

depends on the ski... 951 motors shouldn't have a pulse longer than 16" or it looses signal.

I think the stock fuel pumps are plenty.
How about drilling the case for a second pulse.
    Here is a kit below.
