Ethanol Blew up my motor!!! Thanks ETHANOL!!!

Well compression is gone in number 1 and 3. number 3 cylinder is ok number 1 cylinder needs to be cleaned and honed.

Me and another member got gas at the same pump on the same day, both skis ran bad after. Bottom end was terrible, but mid and top were normal. He ran all of his gas out that weekend, I waited about 2 weeks to run mine out.

    and the ski went BOOM!!!

    I'm Pissed! Thanks Ethanol!!!

    10%

I have been reading a LOT of bad stuff about ethanol and 2 stroke motors. There is an additive made for marine use to keep the ethanol from separating from the gas. Man I'm Pissed

Damn that sucks. Ethanol is basically 10% water in your gas. AND those asshole enviromentalist are trying to get it increase to 15%

ethanol, just like methanol, is one of the best "sponges" of H2O, it will absorb any moisture from the air at an alarming rate.

Myabe the extra time you took to use the fuel was the factor between you, maybe not, sorry you got a rebuild comin man.

    curious.
do you guys get shafted on the pricing of a free biproduct of wine and sugar too (ethanol)?

they are pushing E10 here in Australia but most of us up in the tropical regions won't touch it cos of the water absorbancy and we have 90% humidity in the summer.

i think ive used 10% before. I didnt have any problems. in fact im going to go check tomorrow to make sure

it is required for the gas pump to list the % ethanol correct?

it is required here in OZ, dunno bout your part of the globe, would expect so though. I do think there would have been some other factors to the engine let go too.

    hours on top end?
    last comp check?
    plug colour?

i would think that if you both got gas at the same place and both your ski's blew up there's something more there. Yeah the ethanol sucks but i'm gonna say there may be more water then just the ethanol in the gas.

i would siphon some gas and send it out to get tested
