Rotor (flywheel) question. 98xl1200 non-pv
Ive been having constant problems with the motors in our 1998 yamaha xl1200s. Non-pv. We just replaced a motor and it ran good for 2 weeks and then it died, no spark. Dealer wants 1500 to replace stator coils, pulser coils and the rotor assembly (flywheel). We denied work in attempt to repair at a cheaper cost. We have put way over the original purchase price into the machines already in repair.
My question is, will a flywheel/rotor assembly from a 99 p/v motor work in a non-p/v motor? Going by all pictures they look similar but that can easily be wrong. I know the front cover and possibly the stator and pulser coils are different.
Its pretty hard finding good parts for these non-p/v motors.. =/
