    New numbers for me

Got my GPS in the mail yesterday and had to go to the lake. Did 54.4 mph on 93 Octane, goin up river on a full tank in superman. Tried several 1/2 tank speed runs but couldnt get any more speed.

Not sure on RPMs, i couldnt see the tach and my tiny tach's wire got cut.

It was 86 degrees, 46% humidity.

Does this sound good? Other than not knowing exact RPMs.

I have a tau ceti carbon fiber ride plate (its really short) and a shred master plate im gonna be testing hopefully before it gets too cold. I also have a riva head im gonna be putting on and raising the compression.

Going up river against the river current? How fast was the current? You should run 60 mph without any current.

Yea, against the current and full tank. I only got 54.0 with the current. Two runs on the lake at 52mph. Couldnt understand why i couldnt get more speed with less gas.

So where is my other 5mph?

Do you have the stock plastic white trim tabs still attached to the hull? If they are still there and have not broke I can promise you they are sagging and flexing in the middle, and water is getting between the tabs and the hull causing major drag.

Stock tabs are still there, i just ordered some metal tabs from Slaws machinist.

Could sponson placement have anything to do with speed? I have them adjusted forward right now. Maybe if i put them back a notch it would reduce the planing surface area?

That is one of the best purchases you will make. Once you put those aluminum tabs on, you will find that you can bring your ride plate back up, and gain back some lost speed. Trust me.

Can't wait! Although, I am riding with no shims right now and it is fine.

How do you like your Shred master plate? I have one on order.

Did you notice if the tabs are hanging down in the middle? Sponsons don't have much effect on topspeed. Raising them in theory would help top speed but sometimes promotes porpoising. Your really going to enjoy your ski once you get rid of those stock plastic tabs.

It is awesome in rough water... I don't think it scrubs as much speed as some people say...

They aren't hanging down in the middle. The only thing wrong with the stockers from visual inspection is they need some sealant between the tabs and the front side of the mounting...other than that nothing is wrong...except they are plastic.
