    How much is too much?

I am another happy customer of Jeff from Midwest Crankshaft. Will be reassembling my 900 this weekend and have the Threebond 1211. Was curious how much of this stuff is too much when putting it on the crankcase. Should I only put a bead of it on either half, or both halfs? I did read in the domestic rebuild section that a trouble spot for air leaks is the flywheel housing and it said to put "liberal" amounts of 1211 on both of those surfaces but it doesn't really say anything about the sealing of the crankcase itself. Any advice is appreciated.

I like just a small amount smeared on one half.. Spread a thin coat with your finger.

    Right ^^^^^.

A really well matched crankcase will squeeze most of the silicone out.

Very little is actually left BETWEEN the halves.

Last year or longer ago, beerdart scanned and OCR'd the service manual. I just found that pdf and they have a pic in there with some black/dark colored sealer and from the pic, it appears as if there is only a 1/8 in bead on the case. Is this the correct amount?

Also cannot find the procedures for leak down testing on a domestic.

    Thanks guys,

once the case goes together, you will have probably a 1/64" of bond left and the rest will ooze out and fill gaps. It really just need to coat one side
