    Carb Adjustment

    Hi,

I'm was talking to a mechanic today about a problem I was having with my 97 venture 1100 (dies after running full throttle and releasing the throttle and letting it go to almsost stopped and punching it again).

He suggested I twist the low carb adjustment screw out 1/2 turn.

I can't figure out how to get to that screw. I took the 8 black screws out of the flame arrester and apparently took the black cover off, but the flame arrester is still on there.

Can the low adjustment screw be adjusted without tearing the whole machine apart? If so, what's the trick to get to it?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Your adjustments for the "lows" is the lower adjustable screws on the carbs which are located on the right side of the carbs. Notice mine have the "T" handles but just as a reference you can see roughly where they are.

Great. Thanks for the quick reply. Now that I know where they are, does the flame arrestor need to be removed to do this (I'm guessing it does). If so, what screws do I need to take out to remove the flame arrestor? I'm hoping I don't have to remove the carbs or any other pieces.. if so, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Cool. Thanks, so the only thing I have left to figure out is how to remove the flame arrestor. Does anybody have a wave venture 1100 (or similar) who knows how to remove the flame arrestor? I know it sounds dumb, but I've taken out all the screws I think might be the screws, but I can't seem to get it off.

    Thanks,

    Mike

So, I guess it's the whole black airbox (big black thing sitting on top of the carbs) that needs to be removed... Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Why not leave it in place and just do it by feel?

That's an idea... Are the adjustments facing the cylinders or the other side. I definitely don't have room to reach my hand down there if they're facing the cylinders. If they're facing the other side, I could probably do it. I just have to make sure I get the right adjustment.

    Thanks for the idea.

They face the front of the hull....see my pics where the little "T" handles are on the bottom. Yours will be in the same spot..just wihtout handles. Look at your #1 carb...you will see it for reference...and do all 3

I think I found them. They have little plastic caps over the screws. I'll have to figure out how to get those off. Thanks for all your help.
