98XL 760 low rpm at wot

Got a 98XL 760 that will only do 40mph on flat water at 5500 rpm. Outside temp, humdity, and barometer don't seem to make a difference. Does 5500 rpm seems low? Single rider.Bone stock ski. What to look at?

5500 is really low. You should be seeing about 6800.

Take the flame arrestor assembly off, look down inside the carbs and make sure the butterfly valves open all the way when you pull the throttle lever all the way.

    Unhappy

Did the compression test 150 on front cylinder (twice) and 95 on rear cylinder (twice). What might have caused this? Where should I get repair manual? Need to get it apart first but probably wiped out rear cylinder and what rebuild kit to get?
