    02 polaris virage

Cant seem to get it to rev over 3500 in the water but will rev fine on the trailer. I have cleaned the carb and there are no exhuast or water leaks anywhere. Anyone have any ideas where to go next?

    Service history?

Has this machine ever run properly for you?

    Correct spark plugs installed?
Have you tried new spark plugs?

You have spark on both plugs - correct?
The spark plugs must both be connected to the engine block while testing for spark.

Ohm test the plug wires, and the ignition coil.

Was the carb taken apart and cleaned internally?

Do you still have the factory original gray Tempo fuel lines?

Did you check the pop-off pressure on the carbs? Sounds like a high speed jet problem. When you took the carbs apart, did you look at the screens?

Well, if the carburetor was cleaned and re-installed with the old fuel lines still in there, then the greenish goop inside those old lines may have re-contaminated the carb.

The fuel lines need to be changed, AND the carbs need to be opened up again. A clogged carb not only will not run properly, you run the risk of engine damage from lean fuel delivery.

While the fuel lines are off, make sure the fuel pump, fuel selector valve, fuel/water separator (if you have one), are all clean and in good condition (no air leaks).

Air leaks in the fuel system between tank and pump can cause problems, since the fuel pump creates suction.

Other than taking apart the carbs, what else has been done on this machine?

Were new parts installed when the carb was rebuilt?

Did this problem happen before the carbs were cleaned, or only afterwards?

Were all the jets and internal passages blown out with carb cleaner?

carb was done last saturday and took to the lake saturday afternoon and same thing. yes carb was blown out with carb cleaner and it happened before the carbs were cleaned that was the reason we pulled it off and cleaned it but there was very minimal trash in just the filter

well i done some testing and when you pull the plug wire off the front there is no change put it back on and pull the back wire it dies instantly. When i check for spark on the plug it was firing just fine. must not be getting any fuel?
