RIVA Open loop plate w/closed loop cooling!

Today I tested my heat exchanger set up. The reason for doing this is to take advantage of the speed increase offered by the open loop ride plate without going to the open loop cooling system kit. Installing a heat exchanger eliminates the need to circulate engine coolant through the rideplate. The heat exchanger is used for cooling instead. I plan on installing the Riva open loop plate as soon as it arrives. I would like the thank Danny for his help and the sharing of the information he gathered during his testing of the closed loop heat exchanger cooling setup. His post and his advice has been an enormous help and without that, who knows how long this little project would have taken.

I attached a PDF with a series of pictures showing how I installed my heat exchanger. I just tested it today. Burned a little more than a quarter tank and it ran flawlessly. Now all I need is my Riva rideplate! I hope this will help anyone who wants to do the same. As much help as this website has been over the last 3 years it’s the least I can do in return. Enjoy.

NICE WRITEUP Thats virtually the same installation I did, except mine was back farther. I reused the same tubes, but they have my temp sensors in them, so are a little longer than yours...

The notching of the rear vent tube, just remove the whole vent tube. Its not needed. HOWEVER, if you cut it in half and mount a 3" atwood fan to SUCK hot air out, you will not have any heat fade and it will keep the engine compartment a little cooler

    custom heat exchanger

I have also HE, but I make customs from stock IC. I install RIVA thermo kit 55 C degrees because they are stock me. Now that I installed Riva Plate I have time to rebuild stock cooling system. I was before open loop from 4-tec store, system work great, but I was all time problem with oil temp was very low.

Why do all the fast rideplates require open-loop cooling? I know they mods reduce the volume, but I tend to think it would cool properly anyway.
