    RXP-X Mods - OPINIONS NEEDED

    Hi all,

I currently have an 09 RXP-X. I have found this forum to be very helpful with information in regards to mods, etc. There are many paths that people have taken with these ski's. I have my goals, and am trying to figure out the easiest way to get them.

    Current mods:
    worx intake grate
    riva free flow exhaust
    riva pump wedge
    vts extension
    riva air intake upgrade kit
    grocco strainer

    Currently runs 70.3gps

I would like to get to 78 mph with this ski. I have a solas 15/22 but haven't put it in the boat yet, since I read it may need to be repitched before putting it in.

I would like to keep reliability to a maximum and tuning to a minimum. There are many options out there, 2rude, xcharger, etc. What's the easiest way (price is no option) to get to 78 mph AND KEEP RELIABILITY. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I have already ordered the nozzle kit with the adjustable rings.

Whats the nozzle kit for? A RXP 83mm nozzle will work just fine. You can buy a new one for around 100 vs 350. 250 for more mods.

I'm new to this as well, but no one else is jumping in, so here are some thoughts:

    • Ditch the 3" inch and go to a 4" or rear air intake
    • Put a 83mm RXP nozzle on there
    • Get rid of the filter in the intake manifold
    • Fill the ride plate holes
    • Mod the reverse bucket so it doesn't impede the wedge angle
    • After doing those things, put the Solas in (without the nose cone) and see where you are
    • Pull the Solas out and send it off to a known good prop tuner in order to get it in the 8140 range with above setup and make sure they know your goal is top speed

That should get you close in good air/water temps. Just keep in mind with a smaller nozzle, a wedge and as speeds increase, you are also putting yourself in more danger of the overstuff/buck issue. If you are looking for higher top speeds, then maybe the R&D grate is the safer bet along with some relief valves or even just some holes as Green Hulk showed in the overstuff thread.

Or JD 1 suggested this to me in another thread:

But really all you'd need from that list is the RXP nozzle, Rude 2 and RRFPR. He didn't mention injectors but I guess probably that as well. Or maybe you can run a Rude 2 on stock X injectors with a RRFPR, I dunno. Maybe someone will chime in.

I would fill the ride plate holes, seal the ride plate, install the 83mm nozzle, 4" air, 15/22r, and pitch it to rum 8140 rpms. That should get you around 74 mph in the salt water, 75 in fresh.

After that, you may need to upgrade to another charger/rrfpr to get to 78ish.

i would do what there saying but get the open-loop cooling so you can get that motor cooler to produce more hp and so that you can put that riva rideplate on there, i've heard good things about it giving 1-2mph more. Also, get the throttle body mod done by someone on this site. It looks like it gives good numbers too, around .5-1.5mph
