    sl 750 melted piston

Hey ive got a 94 sl750 that had no compression on the mag cylinder. I pulled the head off to find that the exhaust side of the piston has melted down past the rings. The pieces of the rings pitted the head and piston top . The weird thing is the cylinder walls look good and cleaned right up to the std size. What would cause the piston to melt on the exhaust side of it?

Should i upgrade to the 3 outlet pump? It looks as tho someone messed with the fuel lines and rerouted them and T'ed off to each carb.
