    ummm?

02' virage..... shows signs of faulty pump/carb....cleaned carb, new diaphrams, fuel lines,on/offvalve, and tank are cleaned. still when you crank it will only run and idle with it somewhat choked..if you don't choke it will run and die out....any ideas?..........

    Two or three cylinder engine?

Was the carb taken apart, internal passages cleaned, and then rebuilt with new parts?

Are the screw adjustments set to factory spec?

its the two cylinder one carb 700......and yes carbs taken apart cleaned and checked twice, haha, new kit installed too

Check all the hose connections to the carb. Make sure nothing has been swapped around.

Make sure the pulse line is properly connected at both ends.

Have you confirmed good compression in both cylinders?

yeah every hose is in its correct place and comppresion is good....ya think a slightly sheared flywheel key could cause this?... although when I have it running with the choked pulled it sounds ok but still doesnt rev right..

Arrow How to figure out which cylinder is dead or weak

    Have a look at this video clip;
How to figure out which cylinder is dead or weak

Since your engine is a two cylinder, you MUST connect and ground the opposite spark plug while doing single cylinder testing.

The key point for you is that the engine should run poorly on one cylinder, but also run equally poorly on the other.

If the two cylinders, when run individually, run differently (or one of them doesn't run the engine at all), then the problem is specific to that cylinder.

I suppose a sheared flyheeel key could cause your symptoms, but it is easy to confirm that the MAG cylinder TDC agrees with the flywheel, by looking through the access plug at the top of the magneto housing.

Turn the crank by hand using the drive coupler to move the MAG piston to TDC.

Once you have confirmed that the flywheel position is correct, you can check that the other piston is at BDC.

thanks ,I will check that....I just went out and cranked it,..the engine will fire up and idle fine with the choke almost completly shut, and if you back off the choke and rev it , it will turn up fine..then close the choke back some more and it will idle again, and start up fine everytime...just seems like a fuel restriction or pump problem, but all that checks out fine..ummm

Did you change the fuel lines or just clean them? Gray Tempo lines= Green goo.
