    Looking for experienced opinions here

this is in reference to the thread at:

    http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...wpost&t=105834

I have it narrowed down to a 2002 virage txi that needs an EMM repair (no trailer, no "known" other issues) for $800 and a pair of skis that need repair (sl750 that needs a piston and sltx that needs a cylinder and crank) on a double trailer for $650.

I think I am going to do something here this weekend and I am looking for some experienced opinions on what to do.

I am comfortable with the idea of repairing the skis but since I have not done any of this before some words of wisdom would be most welcome.

    thanks

    cain

I know it's spend more money for a short time but, Buy the TXI and the $650 deal. total $1450.00

Sell your single place trailer with the Sl750 after getting a piston in it.(Say $900.00 to $1000.00 for quick sell)

Total left in the TXI and SLTX $450.00-$550.00 plus you now have a double trailer.

    Part the SLTX out. $300.00+

You may have maybe $250.00 bucks into the TXI.
So if a rebuilt EMM cost $200.00 you would have a double trailer and nice ski for around $500.00.

thanks guys...I wish I could do that just not enough pennies to make it all happen.

I did decide to do the virage after talking to the guy on the phone...$800 for a ski that I can turn around and sell for 3 times that easily once repaired (or happily keep it for years) is just too good a deal to pass up.

Known good EMM cost more than that, unless you find a 'deal' somewhere.

EMM repair or replacement will range from $300 to $800ish, depending on whether the EMM is easily repaired, or completely blown.

Al may still have one complete MSX 140 EMM+injectors available, which can be made to work.

I am expecting the repair to cost $600 at DFI based on a thread I found here that had the exact same problem with the same ski.

in fact I have an e-mail in to DFI about it to see if we can work something out...otherwise the repair will jsut have to wait for tax refund day.

MY BAD,I'd thought I'd read that having them repaired was the $200.00 range. Carb the Betoch!

Don't email DFI.........call them. you might have to try 10 times but you'll get them eventually.

Just got one back from them and it was just shy of $600. From talking to them, their is only a couple of parts internally that generally fail. Those items are replaced along with some other parts that are improved.

Get the ski, pull the codes, and test the other electrical components before sending the EMM in.

If you have problems and need help, or someone to do it, get ahold of me. I'm only a 2 hours west.
