    Open loop cooling pros?

I was thinking about doing this mod to my rxt-x. I know it cools the motor better thus creating more hp. I'm just wandering if anyone notices a performance difference doing this mod? I know the riva plate gives another 1-2mph but would you get another 1mph for the motor being cooled better?

Its not a performance mod, its a modification that allows you to utilize a DIFFERENT modification to obtain more speed, such as the Riva Ride Plate.

There has been a lot of discussion about the open loop kit, whether it be Riva's, JD1's, or Rapid's...its a matter of tuning the motor to run with the open loop, to keep the motor in the optimal opertating temperature range (165-175 degrees).

You can go with the open loop cooling and try to regulate the temps with a valve and gauge, or swap for a Heat Exchanger and let the thermo do the work...personal preference.

Just converted my 05 Rude 2 to an open loop What a difference in the under the seat temp - after a long ride the difference is night and day - the heat sink/fade is vitually gone - I love it - thanks JD1. Haven't installed the ride plate yet. I ride this ski on the Mississippi in Minneapolis for miles on end - 83 mph. It's the way it should be for fresh water and so much cleaner under the seat.

    Go for it.
