    750 sl oil pump question

Hi all first off what a great forum !

I have obtained a 750 sl that had a new motor but it burned up #3 piston
It had the ols fuelsystem so I have upgraded it after fixing the piston .
My problem is I noticed that there is no linkage coming from the engine
to the carbs just a bare shaft no threads or arm nor a spring .

I have ordered a used pump and linkage . Is it safe to run it with premix till I get the pump and linkage .

all the lines are still in place ?

    Welcome to the Hulk, Bud.

What year 750 do you have?

You can just run the ski like normal. The oil pump will deliver oil as if it's WOT. So, it'll be a bit smoky at low RPM, but will be fine.

I suggest replacing the oil hoses and fuel hoses (if they haven't been already) due to age.

I also prefer going to premix and eliminating the oil pump all together.

I'm sure that you have read that the oil lines get old and break, leak and cause a mess besides no oil when that happens.

I removed my oil pump and went pre-mix..40 to 1 or 16 oz oil to 5 gal gas.

I'd get rid of the pump and the oil tank. wire in a 35 ohm resistor and the MFD will show full oil all the time.
