About to tow Wave Runner on water, need help ASAP.

Ok, so it occurred to me as I was getting ready to tow the RXP with the XP, that maybe I should tie up some hoses. All of the exhaust and stuff has been pulled to remove the supercharger. Anything I should clamp up before I am towing it 8 miles with another jet ski?

    for reference...

I was concerned that under pressure, some water that would normally circulate through the engine would dump into the hull while towing.

The only hose I know of that you need to clamp is the one that goes to the intercooler/exhaust. Its will be on the left side (when sitting on the ski). It usually has a red band of tape on it, atleast mine did.

I clamped what I thought I needed to and it survived the journey. I ended up towing about 25 mph since the new ski just will not idle or run right under 3,500. Plus, I didn't want to spend 2 hours towing.

I had a little bit of water in the hull, but it could have easily been from the seat and everything being loose. Is there something I should check other than the oil just to make sure I did not get extra water in the motor?

A question on this.... you need to clamp that hose even if your ski has a closed loop cooling system?

    Thx for enlightening me!

    Yes--

The closed loop part is the engine cooling jacket. The exhaust system (waterbox) uses outside water. From what I understand, when towing, water can be forced backwards and back into the engine through the exhaust system/valves. Similar to the problem that can be caused by having a running water hose connected to the flush port w/o the engine running.

From page 87 of my manual:

    Towing the Watercraft
    in Water
    Special precautions should be taken
when towing a Sea-Doo watercraft in
    water.
    Maximum recommended towing
    speed is 24 km/h (15 MPH).
When towing your watercraft in water,
pinch the water supply hose from the
impeller housing to the exhaust manifold
    with a large hose pincher (P/N 529
    032 500).
This will prevent the exhaust cooling
system from filling which may lead to
water being injected into and filling the
    engine. Without the engine running
there isn't any exhaust pressure to carry
the water out the exhaust outlet.

What if you already did tow your jet ski? How do you get the water out of your engine?
