    Need help!

I am trying to play around with my rideplate and I want to be sure what everyone is referring to when they speak of the factory shims.....are they the long things that run along each side of the rideplate between the rideplate and the bottom of the ski? (On a FZR).

Also when folks are talking about the washers they are putting back in without the shims, the measurements seem very very thin compared to the thickness of the factory shims. So on a tape measure what would be a good thickness to try?

Yes--you are correct about the stock shim.

Use stainless steel washers (3/8" will work) and find some that measure close. I used a dial caliper and found two that were .046". I have two in the front of the plate now but plan on adding more soon.

I just got back from testing this and it resulted in a gain of 3 mph!

Went from 66.7 stock plate on a full tank to 69.7 (3/5 tank) by taking out the shims and adding washers a tick thicker than the thickness of the factory shims. Awesome!
