    Question about FF exhaust install

You guys will probably laugh. I just got my FF exhaust and was going to attempt to install it tonight but I had a problem from the getgo. Well to begin with it states on the FZ series to remove the grab handle which looks like a wize fact as it would be hard to work on without having the little extra space. I noticed that they were Torx heads that are needed along with allen wrences. The Torx bolt has a needle like pin in the middle which I was told was a lock. Any idea where I can buy this type or head? Any idea exactly what size it is? Am I looking at the ski wrong and dont even need to touch this bolt? I believe that I noticed that it was one of the 4 bolts that were talked about that was bolted to the hull. Thanks. Mike

My tools were solid also so the pin wouldnt go in the tool so I just bent the pin back and forth a few times and it broke off. Worked perfect after that. You will only have to do it to 2 of the bolts and take the hole assy off together.

You need a Torx security bit. Those are a "safety device" so that just not anyone can steal whatever it is that they are bolting down.

Harbor Frieght has them along with any big auto parts store that carries tools.

They will look just like a normal Torx bit, but will have a hole in the center for the security pin.

Here is a small Craftsman set

Fry's have a cheap 100 Pcs assorted power bit set for under $20.

This is the set I bought from them.

    Thumbs up

I cheated...vise grips! The backing nuts are not on that tight, they bottom out as not to crack the grab handle tabs.

just take small flat screwdriver and pop the pin out..that what I did...took like 10 seconds..Tip : do the ff at the same time your going to change props , that way the pump is out of the way and it is much easier to work in that area.

Did my FF install on the lift in the water. Didn't remove the grab handle--just stood on my head. Would've really helped as one hand just isn't enough unless I am just looking for a part I dropped...

Guys again thanks its all done. But funny you said this because I dropped one of the grab rail handle bolts non security and cant find it. It dropped all the way to the bottom and i cant even get my hand down in there. its DEEP. lol. Shouldnt cause a problem bouncing around down there in yalls opinion right? If so ill need to really dig down and find it.
