    2004 msx 150 bad turbo

    hi all
I just purchase a 2004 MSX 150 turbo with know mechanical problems. The last owner thought it was a sensor issue. When tested in the water the ski would only go 15 mph maxing out at 4100RPM . Thinking this was a wastegate problem until testing all soenoid and valve and all ok. then we took the 2 inch output hose off the turbo itself and started it and very little to know output. Wow, I got took. So my question is can I buy an aftermarket or rebuilt turbo charger and how much should these cost. How much should it cost to rebuild my current one. I am up in the great white north so supplys are limited. Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks devo

    Welcome

Have you checked compression and spark for both cylinders?

The turbo cartridge is a common kkk k03 watercooled unit. These turbo are common on smaller VW and Audi engines. The only difference may be the diameter of the turbine wheel. A good turbo shop will get you going in no time with a brand new K03 cartridge at a fraction of the cost from what Polaris is charging.

    crossover

    hi, thanks alot
just on ebay a saw how cheap they are compared to the $2700.00 polaris turbo. I hate to be a pain but do you know of the crossover VW or Audi turbo it would match. I will definitely go this route with my local turbo specialists.

Thanks again, you have made a seemed to be disasterous experience somewhat fun. the hunt that is. where can i send a couple cases of molsons!

Seems like this is the big question on the 150's, where can you find a comparable turbo to replace the bad one when it goes? I have seen a couple for sale locally with problems, debating on whether I should take on a project.

These are KKK K03 similar to VW and Audi automotive counterparts. You can buy a new turbo cartdrige with comparable turbine impeller diameter and fit these on the oem Weber aluminum manifold. The tricky part is to find the correct turbine wheel diameter. A good turbo shop should get you going if you bring them the old & defective turbo cartridge.

This is the stock code for a replacement cartridge fitted to my MSX150

    5303-710-0504 K03 Cartridge assembly

You still need your original compressor housing to make this purchase work.

I paid $1400 aud each about 12 months ago

Hope this is of some assistance.

i have them rebuilt in stock with exchange or you can send me yours as well. I also have upgraded ones as well and the turbo is much more efficient and has the ability to make more boost....Would be a good compliment to maybe Desperado's ecm upgrade?

470.00 rebuild/balanced if the impeller wheels are in good shape

    795.00 rebuild/new cartridge/balanced

    1095.00 upgraded/cartridge/balanced
