04 RXP only cranks half a revolution.

Got a 04 RXP with 70 hours on it that only cranks half a revolution. Pulled the SC and the pump and still the same result. Anyone have any guesses as to what the problem is? All 3 pistons move as well. I'll be pulling the engine this week for a better look.

Cam chain is my first guess. Did you pull the valve cover to see if the valves are moving? ... Ron

Well that would have been everyone's first guess.
Does it turn over with the plugs out?
Sure it is a good battery? I am sure if you went to the extent of pulling the charger and pump it is, but just thought I would ask.

    Cam chain is intact.

I hope it's something that simple.

We tried 2 batteries and used our charger/starter. Even trying to turn it over by hand something hangs up.

Josh... I hate to be the one to say it, but it sounds like you dropped a valve.

    If i'm wrong, that's a good thing.

However, my guess is that the rear cylinder is causing you the grief.

Yeah i didn't think of that. I haven't had a hard look at it with the valve cover off but my friend removed the valve cover to look at the cam chain but i assume he didn't look any further. He can't go wrong however since he picked up this ski for about $300 ! Since i worked my full time job tonight i'll be at the shop tomorrow working on it.

Well the verdict is in.......Jeff was 110% correct! The problem was a dropped exhaust valve in the rear cylinder. looks like it's gonna need a new head and piston. Good call Jeff!
