    750 cases on a 785

The cases in my 785 are junk, can I use 750 cases that I already have? I compared them to eachother on the bench and the only difference I see is a second pulse fitting in the 785. Does anyone know of a reason why I shouldn't drill out an additional pulse fitting and use the 750 cases?

i think the porting at the top is different too! adding a pulse line wouldnt be that bad to do, but the porting is harder and it's easy to break through the case walls

You can use the 750 cases however, they do not have the same porting as the 750/780 cases. You will be down a little on HP. You can however, come close to matching the original 785 case porting if you want to do a little work to the 650/750 cases. With the proper tools, you can nearly duplicate the 785 porting. I say "nearly" because without doing a little welding to the 750 cases, there will not be enough material to to exactly match the 785 porting without going through the case. I weld them then port the case and your ready to go. However, it might not be worth the effort and expense unless you can do the work yourself.

I would agree that it's something to avoid if possible. However, I've seen SBT motors that were sold as 750 but had 780 upper cases on the 750 lower. Maybe they align bored them but I wouldn't bet on it. Try bolting the cases together and look for any obvious misalignment. If it looks good, try installing the crank and see if there's any binding. My guess is that you will be fine.

thanks for the advice, I did put the 785 top on the 750 bottom and it looks fine. The crank spins nice, but i may try using the 785 bottom if i can get it cleaned up good enough. I will post some pics tomorrow and you guys can tell me what you think. thanks for all of your input
