    Removing the ribbon FZ

Everyone talks about removing the ribbon. As far as I can see, thats the flame arrestor. Well, coming from a history of boats, some hot ones with 2x502 blown, I see this as a big flag. What are the issues with doing this on an FZ?
Isn't this just asking for trouble? I know the cost guard, or whatever body isn't going to find it during an inspection because it is way hidden but is this safe?

You still have the intercooler element and the air filter acting as a flame arrestor once the ribbon is removed.

You will be shocked when you first view the ribbon. It looks like a solid metallic element blocking the intake track. It is buried in the throat of the intake manifold. There is nothing like this on the boats you are accustomed to.

I wasn't really sure what everyone was talking about but I just saw a picture of one. Your right, it isn't what I was expecting. I'm just getting started tearing into this thing, lots to learn. Everyone here knows these things inside out too so I can usually find what I need in search and that helps too.
    thanks again!
