85mm or 87mm with I.R. racing holeshot kit

spoke to carl today , the orders in, but he recommends trying both nozzles, to see which performs better, HE THINKS the 87mm pump won't stay loaded during holeshot and get a small amount of cavitation, the 85mm HO would work fine, has anybody done some "trial and error" and felt any significance between the two?

Carl is correct, you will have to try both and see which one works best for your combination..Every ski is different.

    trial and error

thanks ROSS, i know i can count on one of the" professors'' to chime in on this matter. i leave the 85mm on when kit is installed do a few runs for the day, then try the 87mm.

I would be interested to see as well... truth is that most of the nozzles have variation in diameter (not true 85 mm or 87 mm). Also, most are not perfectly circular.

Note: i tested this 2 years ago and my laptop was stolen with my data (gps logs, 0-60's etc).. so im going to talk from memory.

the oem 85mm has a different inside shape to the 87mm. All my testing was done with a skat track swirl type-r 13/19 (the mods where whats in my signature). small hub style pump fully blueprinted.

I found the sweet spot for my setup to be 86.8

Here is the topic where it was discussed in depth.
