    GPR1300R Slow....57.9 mph

    Hello,
I have a 2003 GP1300R with 53 hours on it. The ski seems to be running well, but I GPS'd it yesterday on my Garmin and the best I could do is 57.9.

    Conditions:
    Light boat chop....Maybe 2 ft.
    Temp 81.0 °F
    Humidity 43%
    Pressure 30.08 in
    Elevation: 856 ft

    Mods:
    Stepped OEM sponsons
    Riva Pump seal kit
    R&D ride plate
    R&D intake grate

I weigh 205 lbs and the fuel level was at 2 bars. I had the trim in the neutral position and I was standing tucked to decrease aerodynamic drag. I am wondering why my GPR is running slow. I've done some quick research here and I read a few posts about the intake grate or ride plate causing drag. I looked under and it looked pretty flush to my untrained eye. My jetski is about 2 hours away from me right now, so I don't have any pictures of the underside. I can take some next weekend for you guys to view. Any ideas or pointers to help me out would be greatly appreaciated. I'd like to get this thing running to it's potential. Thanks in advance.....Jason

What is your shoe sitting at, did you measure it after the install? Might check the cat-con, it needs to be replaced with a D plate before it falls apart, if it hasnt already.
Welcome to GH. Also, you need to install the pump tunnel reinforcment so your tunnel doesnt crack and the shoe pulls down.

    RPMs? Compression? Prop?

If the engine is running right, look at the bottom of the ski. Anything hanging low? What are your measurements?

03' was the first year for the 1300 and they had BIG PROBLEMS with the pump shoes ripping out of the hull. I believe there's a re-call on reinforcing the hull. I would check and be sure that shoe isn't hanging down which will scrub a lot of speed off.

    Thanks for the replies;

The power valve motor is working, I checked that. It moves freely a few mm.

I haven't done a compression test, but if I can find my tester I can do it this weekend and report back. The engine seems to be running fine to me.

I had the pump shoe re-inforced, per the Yamaha recall a couple of years back.
