    Truck box mounting

Was wondering how everyone mounts boxes on the front of their trailer. I have seen lots of people do this, just not sure what's the best method.

Was able to pick up a truck box from a full size truck for $10. Couldn't beat it.

mine is bolted on with 2 bolts on either side.. used a peice of flat metal on the inside of the box so when bolted down there is more surface area holding the box down instead of a lil bolt.. make sense

You can also can get some U-Bolts and run them from under the frame rails into the box.

I tried 3 different hardware stores and no one had any 4" long x 2" wide ubolts. That was my first thought as well.

I have it mounted now, just need to get it done better, it's leaning to one side too much.

btw, this is on a single ski trailer. if it was a double it would be much easier.

If the tongue is long enough, run the box length wise down it.

Make your own u-bolts from all thread and bend it up in a vise. Not hard at all to do.

Use some 1/4" aluminum flat stock and put it on either side of the box so it won't crack.

If the box won't fit length wise, you could make up a light frame from some of the aluminum stock and bolt it down that way.

I drilled holes in the bottom of my box. I just open up the lid and hose everything down. Everything drains out the bottom. I uses a 1/4 inch bit and put a couple of dozen holes in the low spots. Worked out awesome.
