My new driveshaft and carbon ring just arrived today. I slid the carbon around the shaft. I thought it was going to be a pretty snug fit. Is there suppose to be a 1/8 in gap beteen the inner diameter of the carbon ring to the outer diameter of the driveshaft?

yup, the sealing surface is that stainless steel collar and the front of the carbon(e) ring. be carful not to nick it during the install.. Watch the bilge like a hawk during the fist few minutes of runtime to be sure you're not going to titanic it.

How do you check whether you need to replace your carbon ring?
Is there a How To for replacing it?
I have 140 hours or so on my RXP and will be installing the B Kit SC soon, so thought now would be a good time to check.
Thanks in advance,
