The official Formula One racing thread
Ok here we go, WHAT should happen to Renault??? And will you miss Flavio and his off the cuff comments?
I was VERY shocked to see him walk away from the sport.

Wow, I just read the news about the latest F1 scandal. If it can be proven, I think some sort of penalty should be levied on Renault...maybe stripping some constructor points or fines or both. There must've been some pretty strong evidence aginst Flavio for him to leave the team. IMO, if the alegations are true, Piquet should also face charges for not coming forward sooner, but it's probably a moot point since his F1 career is likely already over. I've never been a big fan of Flavio, but Piquet Jr is a little bitch.
It's been a drama filled season already. First, Hamilton throws Mclaren under the bus, then the near split of FOTA & now this.
I just watched Monza last night...way to go Rubens!!!

problem is how can you give Mclaren a 100million dollar fine for recieving Ferrari insider technical information, that was proved to not have been any gain for them..
How big will the fine be for a team that changed the outcome of last years world championship ,massa was leading the race before the saftey car came in, and could have won the world championship had he had even recieved 1 point in that race...
Not to mention ALL the teams that lost $$$ due to the way the race ended.. And the positions they ended up in because of that safety car..

I love F1, just way too much drama.
I have stopped watching because of it.
What's done is done. If you make it to the next race and have not been "caught", then game on.
Long Live Senna

All good points, but cheating is cheating in my book...no matter what the results are. Don't quote me on this, but I thought Singapore was the race that Massa lost the lead & DNF'd when the fuel coupler didn't disconnect & he drove down pit lane with it still attached.

So who are you guys predicting to take the driver's championship this year?
I think Button has enough points to cruise through now that Ferrari & McLaren are getting their act together late in the season, making it tougher for Red Bull to close the points gap. However, if Rubens stays on his hot streak it could be close. I'd love to see Rubens win it after playing second fiddle to Schumacher all those years & then having a horrible go of it in the crappy works Honda. Either way, I'm pulling for both him & Jensen...it would be awesome to see a first year small budget team beat all the big $ factory teams.

Michael Schumacher rumored to be close to signing on for 2010 with Mercedes GP(formally Braun)!!!!
Other driver changes:
Rosberg to Mercedes
Button to Mclaren
Raikkonen on sabaticle...I think he wants to party & race WRC
Barrichello to Williams
Alonso to Ferrari
Trulli & Kovalainen to the new Maylasian backed Lotus team
Kubica to Renault
Glock to the new Virgin team
I for one am psyched at seeing how 41y/o Schumacher paired with his right hand man Braun will fair against the younger generation of Hamilton & Vettel & his old rival Alonso in a Ferrari.
