Old Sea Doo burned hole in piston
I didnt find anything with a quick search so I thought I would throw this out there. Old 583 (I think) motor burned a hole in the top directly under the sprk plug right threw the piston. Other side looks OK. Is this a lean condition or deto or what do you think caused it?

time to look at the fuel system.. grey fuel lines?
sounds like it was lean,, could be detonation.
how about a little history,
time on machine
Fuel and mix? and age of fuel?
what was going on when failure happened?

The off-the-cuff guess would be deto at the spark plug. It could be from a lean condition or the wrong plug.
Could have been a crappy piston too. Do you know if had been rebuilt, or if was the original engine.
If someone had been into it you could also consider improper Rotary Valve timing.
