Loss of speed and High Rpms

I have a 03 1300r with 171hrs on it. I was riding a few days ago and the ski begain to slow down I took it back to shore and when i started the motor the rpms were idling high like 1800 rpm ,and the prop was hardly spinning in the back when flushing out. There was a very hard rumble from the pump area. I cant figure out what the problem is? i opened the pump and the prop was fine and secure to the shaft. If anyone can please give me some pointers where to look that would be great

Pull your pump and inspect the splines that go into the intermediate shaft for metal shavings. Look through the intake tunnel with a bright flashlight inside of the intermediate shaft. The splines ought to be squared off. If everything seems to be rounded and you see shaveings, then you will have to replace the intermediate shaft.

Inspect your transom plate and make sure that the 3 alignment tabs (2 on the top of the plate and 1 on the side of the plate) are in contact with the tabs on the hull. This aligns the pump properly to the hull. Correct this if your aligment is more than approx.30 thousandths out.

Check your engine alignment to the shaft and realign if need be.

Correct the pump alignment 1st. This is the hardest and most time consumeing to do. Then correct the engine alignment.

If you do not do these things, there is a good chance that you could ruin another intermediate shaft.
