    Question No fuel - Desperate

    Have a 94 SL650.

Bought the ski with no fuel issue.

Replaced the fuel pump & hoses with kit from John Z.

    Replaced fuel selector valve

removed inline fuel filter for testing

I can get the engine to bump a little if I spray Carb cleaner in the carbs.

I'm not seeing any fuel going out the pump.

Do I need to prime the pump some way?

    I have already verified spark.

And YES, there is fuel in the tank. What can/should I do?

I have drained the 1.5gal of old gas and put in brand new fresh 4gal of gas.

I disconnected the pulse line at the pump and cranked it over a few times. Felt pulse pressure coming out of the hose.

Coming up with a blank here.

edit: I have also bypassed the air/water seperator by connecting the fuel pump in to the fuel selector out.

Also verified hose config according to this post: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...33#post1101333

Make sure the hoses are installed correctly. How about a pic?

Make sure the petcock is in the correction position.

Don't use starting fluid with 2 strokers. Try dumping a little premix down the carb throats to get it started.

It may take a bit for the fuel to get from the tank to the fuel pump from just cranking. So pour the premix into the carbs to get it started right away and get the fuel flowing faster. You're starter will thank you for it.

Ok, I'm thinking that it's hoses and/or not clamped down enough. It's the only other thing I can think of.

What should come out of the PTO cyl. when pulsing? Pressure (air) or fluid?

It should be air. It'll give a positive pressure when the PTO is on the down stroke. And a negative pressure on the up stroke.

That's what drives the diaphragm back and forth to draw fuel in, and with the help of a couple check valves, to pressurize it and force it out to the carbs.

This may help you a bit.

and this is how the carbs should look.

And the preferred installation location for the pump.

Low in the hull, (normally in front of the battery) but not below the pulse fitting on the block.
