    09 FXHO 1.8 starting question

I have about 14 hours on my ski. This has happened about 3 times to me now. When I attempt to start it, it cranks for an extended time before actually starting (over 8 seconds). This has only happened after riding, then stopping. It has not happened on the ski's initial start of the day. Most of the time, it only needs to crank for 2-3 seconds and then it fires up. Could kelp being stuck in the pump cause this? The reason I ask, the few times that this has occurred, I was riding in areas with kelp. Thanks.

This is just a guess but could the fuel be vaporized in the injector rail? Until the pump can put liquid fuel in the lines it might take longer to start. You could try to touch the starter quickly so the fuel pump runs for a few seconds. Then try to start it after listening to the pump run. If it fires up quicker after that, then it could be the fuel boiling off when you shut it down hot.

Hello Hello! Who's High Pitch! Hey Bossssth!

Yeah, I don't know. It is weird. I just don't want to be stranded out there. Any other ideas? I know what will happen when I take into the shop. "We did not find anything wrong."

Did you take yours into the shop? I took mine in today. They are a bunch of idiots, we'll see what happens.

your not pulling the throttle at all are you? i let a friend that rides stand ups ride my fz and whenever he would try and start it it would take an extended time... and i believe it's due to the fact he is used to pulling the throttle to start

    No throttle pulling, just cranking.
