Thread: Stingray Shuffle

Justa reminder to all who ride in water that has stingrays in it to do the stingray shuffle.
They are everywhere in florida.. Went on a ride with Jim and Leo today and we stopped at anclote key for a break. Stood along side my ski for a minute, in maybe 2 feet of water, then took a step and BAM.
Got hit by a stingray barb on the right foot below the ankle on the soft part of the foot.
Felt like i got shot. Went right through my shoe... Bleeding like a stuck hog i hobbled to the shore and had to lay on the beach for maybe 15 minutes as the pain is pretty damn bad from these things.
Thankfully there were 3 ladies from a boat a couple hundred yards away that saw me laying on the shore and they brought a first aid kit with some jellyfish sting ointment and lots of gauze and tape to get me so i could make the 15 mile ocean ride back to my jeep and trailer.
Wouldnt be a bad idea to keep a marine style first aid kit with the skis when we go for these salt water rides.
Leo took a couple pics of the foot he will post later...
