3 years ago i had a manatee come up to my ski as i was floating with engine off, laid his head up on the side of my ski, let me and my girlfriend pet him on the head, was unreal. He stayed for 45 minutes right there letting us pet him. Last month i saw a group of 5 manatees all wrapped up together , looked like maybe they were mating. Tampa bay is full of manatees. Not an unusual sight here at all..

i havent seen manatees while riding jet ski but i have come across a couple of sharks mating in the shallows. this was like 2 months ago and ive seen a bunch of dolphins while ocean riding. you come across a lot of marine animals when you ride in the open ocean.

We see manatees in the Indian river quite often. I have also seen many that were killed by boat props, both floating and washed up on the shore. This is why I won't use a prop driven boat. The jet drives would just slide over the gentle giants backs. There are pods of dolphins all over the river too. They can come to within 10 feet of the ski if you turn the engine off. One day I may get to pet one like I can do with the manatees.

I see manatees once in a while, but I do see dolphins more often in the intercoastal, and ocean. I had a dolphin surface right in front of my ski last weekend, and had to swerve to miss him . I stopped , and watched them swim near us for a while after that. Pretty neat seeing them so close up.
