    Stator Testing

I recently bought a Fluke 179 multimeter. I wanted to try it out, so I tested the stator for my 96 SLTX. Everything checked out fine except for the exciter coil # 1. K447's stator testing post says black to purple 1200 ohms, mine tested at 2600 ohms. This is an original non-update kit stator. I also bought a coil pack for the SLTX off ebay for a spare. I tested it and the mag cylinder tested at 35-42 ohms. K447's post says it should be .35 ohms. Could anybody tell me what this means??? I should also add that the engine ran and had great spark.
    Thank you
    Clayton G

What ohm values did the other primaries produce?
It can be tricky to measure very low ohm values...

The ohm values in the stator test thread are derived from the service documentation.

1996 was the first year for the domestic engine with the PVL ignition system. In fact, the very early domestic ignitions didn't yet have a Polaris part number printed on the CDI, just the PVL manufacturer's model code.

It is possible that the early domestic engine PVL compatible stators and CDI differ from the specs used later on. I have not seen any documentation that clearly indicates such differences

Both other primaries tested .3 one then .4 another. Most of the time .4 so I figured .35. As far as the stator, that tested 2600 every time. ( Black to Purple)
