2004 rxp, what to look for?

I'm thinking about getting this rxp, but what are some known issues that the 04 models have?

I have (3) '04 skis....2- RXP's and 1- GTX. With the '04 and '05 models, the biggest issues are the valves and SC bearings. Some have had issues with valves snapping in the rear cylinder and dropping into the engine causing a catastrophic failure - rebuild or replace the engine. Also, the ceramic SC washers....you DEFINITELY want to get these replaced immediately with the medal washers.

Other than that - GREAT ski, great hull, VERY strong engine. The 215hp engine is an EASILY upgradeable engine and you can have your ski over 75mph pretty easily without cracking open the engine for pistons and valves and such.

Not that I am a believer, but I have heard people say that the 04s and 05s are slower than some of the later models. Any truth to that? I'm sure S/D has made plenty of changes and improvements since 04 to 09 but just wondering if this relates to speed.

A buddy of mine had an 05 RXP. It was probably a factory freak but it ran 70.7 bone stock and a best of 71.6 with holes filled and bucket cut. Also have a stock 05 RXT with 176 hours that never turns below 8100 RPM and runs 67+ mph. I wish they all ran like that

I've heard of delamination. Is it something to worry about more on an 04? Or is it just something that could happen to any year rxp? I know about the supercharger washers, which is a must. Are the 04 and 05 skis exactly alike? what are the differences?

off topic, but what do you guys think a good price for an 04 rxp w/96 hours be? Or how much would you guys spend on one? This particular rxp's engine bay is clean, but the exterior of the ski is ALL faded (and looks like the owner rattle canned it black). It runs good, and maintained at the local dealer. What do you guys think something like this is worth?
