    GP1200 hull weight?

This winter the GP1200 is getting stripped down to the hull to clean up inside and fix some water leaks and damage to the bottom and re-gelcoat. Any idea how heavy the bare hull is?

Alot heavier than my carbon fiber hull......sorry, I couldn't help myself....I'm going to guess, completely stripped around 280-290lbs.....maybe a few pounds lighter if you don't include the steering box. Let us know.....

97 shop manuel says 525 for the 1200 and 475 for the 760... then again the later's hull are a bit heavyer to cure the cracking issues of the 1200 in the 97's.. as a guess, i'd say near half if stripped so your looking in the 275-300 range...

    Pilo,
Not to doubt you, but I think it'll be much heavier than 200#'s, if my memory serves me correctly, my c/f hull was just a few pounds over 200 and some of the c/f raider hulls were in the 190# range. SMC is considerably heavier than c/f. Now, I'm not saying your hull couldn't be that light, but I suspect it is heavier than you think. Some of the lightweight factory hulls I'm pretty sure were in the 230-240# range and had a real problem with flexing and cracking in race conditions. That was one of the reasons the factory teams went to c/f.
Not so much for the weight savings, but beacause it was stronger and reduced flex, the weight savings was a side benefit. See if you can get an accurate weight on your stripped hull. I for one would like to know.....I've got a lightweight hull as well, but I'm too lazy to strip it down completely to weigh it.

I think the 65U is 120-140 so subtract that from the 525. Your at 385. With everything removed pump, seat, 280-300lbs would be a safe bet....... Darn close to what Mike said.

For comparison bottom deck on a Superjet made with SMC is approximately 60lbs and bare hull is around 110lbs.
