    Symptoms of TOPS failure?

I have had some oil issues and cannot hear my TOPS valve click or make any noise when I put the key on the post ... can you usually hear it click? What symptoms do you get when the TOPS valve sticks or fails?

If you run the ski on the hose for a while and then pull the dipstick does air pressure rush out? You can also remove the TOPS valve and use a 12 volt source to trigger it. Also check for 12 volts at the plug. Should come on when the key is plugged in and then off 10 seconds or so after the key is removed. I believe it's powered from a 10amp fuse on the mpem top left the same as the cam sensor since they share this powersource.

I will have to pull it off and see if the piston moves when it energizes ...

I would say a compression and leak down test is in order. The TOPS valve should be very easy to confirm working or not but seeing it working is more comforting.

You are right, did compression test, was 110 on all 3, which is low, but I need to adjust my cam timing too. Once I have it out I will do a leakdown test too ...
