Was this particular EMM previously working on your engine?

Are the injectors the same injectors that were on there previously, in the same cylinder locations?

If DFI repaired your original EMM, then the injector flow data should still be programmed in there, and the EMM should work properly with the original fuel injectors, in the original cylinder locations.

What was wrong with your EMM?
    What parts were replaced?

Code reader - do you mean this LED test light?
How to read Polaris Ficht EMM trouble codes without special software or a computer

When was it last running - before the EMM went to DFI, or after the repaired EMM was re-installed?

    Is this a 1999 Genesis i?

    What is it doing now?
Starts, then quits shortly after Start button is released?
Does it stay running if you hold the start button down?

No connectors are required to construct and use the Ficht EMM test LED.

Just 2 pieces of #14 solid copper wire, and LED, resistor, and solder them together.

Turn off the display? The MFI clock is always visible.

It internally goes into 'sleep' mode after five minutes of no activity, but the clock continues to run.

Please describe all the current symptoms, and other info that you think might be helpful. The more complete the info you can provide, the better.

It was running with the DFI repaired EMM, but roughly - correct?

Then the battery died. You replaced that battery, and now what are the symptoms?

Sorry about replying to my own thread. thanks for all the help k447.
i sent back the emm to dfi to redo. They said that it's water shorting out the fuel pump.the second mechanic said when he poured gas straight into the carbs and it ran fine for 5 minutes. He did say that when he took off the injectors there was a screen that looked dirty. can i get new ones or is there a way to clean them?would this also cause the emm to heat up and break the pin to the fuel pump

    Still not following you

The fuel pump - water was shorting out what, exactly?

    What pin is broken, where?

EMM overheat? Is that what DFI said happened?
That would have nothing to do with the fuel system. That would be the water cooling system.

If the engine was run for too long with no water flowing through the cooling system (on land, or with weeds clogging the jet pump), or a kinked/blocked cooling hose, that will overheat the EMM, and can cook it enough to damage it internally.

Sometimes the damage from an overheat does not cause service codes, but the EMM doesn't work properly afterwards.

What screen was dirty? The internal injector tip screens?
    Was just one screen dirty?

The injectors each have a very fine screen inside the injector tip. Unless the screen was damaged, the mechanic should have been able to clean the fine mesh.

We really need more complete information from you.

dfi said that the connector plug to the emm is the problem. they said my mechanic might have not greased it enough and water is wicking in to the connection or the wire that runs the fuel pump. the same one with the broken connector pin causing the broken pin and melting connector. the connector to the emm is the bottom right pin with the orange rubber pad
thanks for pictures of the screen. now I see what screen hes talking about. do you know where to buy the screen for the injectors?
