    Changing impeller help

    2003 Yamaha GP1300R
I am in the middle of changing my impeller as I type this.
    Few questions

The impeller that is on the ski now is a 60T00 with 4 blades. Is this the stock impeller or the last owner must have put it on?

The impeller that I bought as a replacement is a 60T10 with 3 blades. I did not know what impeller I had on or how many blades it had.

-What difference will it make if I switch from 4 blades down to 3?
Or should I try and return the impeller and get the one with 4 blades?

-is the impeller left or right hand thread?

-How do you hold the drive shaft to remove the impeller? Is there a tool or a proper way?

I will really appreciate any help.

-What difference will it make if I switch from 4 blades down to 3? I can`t answer that, I don`t know the differences between the 2 props as far as pitch/root angles etc... maybe someone will chime in...

-is the impeller left or right hand thread? I believe left hand. it could be very stubborn to get off...

-How do you hold the drive shaft to remove the impeller? Is there a tool or a proper way? there is a drive shaft holding tool.

I will really appreciate any help.
her is what the tool looks like, most people hold this in a vice, keep the pump stable and put a wrench on the prop...

The 60T00 is for the 03-04 gpr
The 60T10 is for the 05-08 gpr

Yamaha changed the pump in 05. I believe i've read that the 05-08 prop can be used on the 03-04 pump, but the bottom of the prop where it meets the pump stator is wider. But, it doesn't affect anything.

It just so happens there was a stock prop from a 04 gpr put up for sale today in the classifieds for $20 shipped. Assuming it's not all banged up, you can't beat that deal. Here's the link::: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=108152

Here's the link to the shaft holder tool from the online store andy posted above. You will need that to hold the shaft in a 1-1/8 socket. http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=949

I've changed 2 props this week and had great success using the shaft holder tool on a breaker bar and parking a car tire on the bar(learned that from a forum post) opposed to using a bench vise and risk ripping the vise off the bench.
